With 2024 over and done with, I think now is about time I refresh the site and make some small changes to My Hubble Abode.
January 1st was the 6th birthday of this website, and it’s been so amazing to work on this throughout my undergraduate degree (and now as I do my PhD), even if I couldn’t keep up with the weekly schedule in 2024.
My Hubble Abode has not just been a site for me to write about space, but it’s also been a place for me to showcase my own learning, get into my interest better, and importantly give back to the awesome resource that is the internet!
The past 6 years have been a very – let’s just say turbulent – time in my life that has involved a lot of introspection and developing a sense of identity that I didn’t really have before. I mean, I did start this site as a teenager, so it’s no surprise that I’ve grown a bit since then!
But as a result, everything I’ve done on the internet has been a bit nameless and I’ve not been able to establish a more personal connection with you all. So moving forward into 2025 I’d really like to change that, starting with my name and potentially also changing the name of the website.
So, hello! My name is Seti! I’m not named after the pharaohs but you can still spell it in hieroglyphs (𓁣𓇌 is phonetically correct, although I’ve seen other versions), it’s actually a nickname but everyone calls me that!
I’m a PhD student in the UK studying galactic dynamics, namely the warp in the Milky Way and in other spiral galaxies too! I’m only in my first year, so I have no publications yet!
In the next few weeks you might see some small changes to the website, including the name. I’m going to go for something a little more professional since this is technically part of my career now, and quite frankly, I have a space-themed name and I want to use it! I’ll also be updating my “About Me” page and I might even go for a little refresh of the design of the site too.
I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things now that I’ve found my footing with the PhD and have lots of new things I’ve learnt about the Milky Way that I would love to share with you! I think we’ll start with a monthly post, then if I’m feeling particularly productive I’ll supplement that!
It’s so great to properly introduce myself to you all, and thank you so much for sticking around and hanging out with me! I’m hoping you all have a splendid 2025!
Love it, Seti! Good thinking going forward and excited to see more!

Seti is a great name for an astrophysicist! I wish I had a name that cool.
